Why WE should Take This BOLD Step?

INTRODUCTION

48-years after independence, Kenya has never been able to achieve her food security objectives, resulting in an endless cycle of responding to drought and famine, all the times requiring the intervention of Kenyans of goodwill and intent, alongside development partners and friends of Kenya.

Kenya has continued to experience climatic vagaries resulting in severe drought and famine since independence, claiming thousands of lives each year and resulting in losses running into billions of shillings of livestock and economic activities.

Each year, millions of Kenyans face death from starvation especially in the arid and semi-arid areas comprising Turkana, North Eastern Kenya, Coast and parts of Lower Eastern Kenya.

These communities, most of which are pastoralists, are forced to walk tens of kilometers each day in search of food, water and pasture.

Despite continued reactions by the government and other international partners in response to the perennial calamity, there has been a consistently demonstrable lack of planning and sustainable action plans to avert this crisis, while guaranteeing food security for communities in these drought prone areas.

As a result, the majority of Kenyans and other partners are growing weary and tired of the lack of tangible commitment, especially by the government, to develop and implement practical and sustainable long-term solutions to permanently address this cyclic catastrophe; hence having to come in year-in-year-out to save the lives of millions of Kenyans facing death from starvation.

This Walk seeks to provide an opportunity to all Kenyans (and friends of Kenya) of goodwill and intent an opportunity to contribute in whatever little way they can, towards initiating practical and sustainable model projects in these marginalized regions to demonstrate their capacity food and livestock production, to feed its members.

It is our humble prayer that you shall find it in your heart to walk and work with us, as we seek to develop long-term sustainable solutions to avert this recurrent crisis in future.
