Funds will be raised, broadly, through:
1. Corporate Sponsorships
Companies and organizations can contribute to the Fund. There will be two categories of Corporate Sponsors:
• Lead Sponsors: be the Lead Sponsor of the event. Be featured prominently in all the advertising and promotion of the campaign. Will receive a unique trophy.
• Other Sponsors: Contribute to the Fund be featured in all advertising and promotions (with less prominence) and as time and space will allow. Each will receive a unique Recognition Plaque at the end of the Campaign.
2. Bank Deposits
Individuals and organizations will have an opportunity to deposit or directly transfer funds to the Campaign Fund at the given Bank(s). The banks account shall be availed soon.
3. Mobile Money Transfer
This will target the 10-million people to contribute at least Kshs.10 per week, each of the 11-weeks the walk will be ongoing, forming the bulk of the contributors. They will send an SMS starting with the word “OKOA” and a goodwill message to a given SMS number. The SMS number shall be availed soon
4. MPESA/ZAP/yu-CASH/Orange Money – targets those willing to make a wholesome contribution of more than Kshs.10. They will have the option of contributing through the “Pay Bill” option from all the mobile money transfer services.
5. Branded Coin Boxes
To be placed at all leading Supermarkets, Shopping Malls, Fuel Stations, Churches, Mosques, Schools, Colleges, Universities and any other areas that will be identified convenient for the public.
6. Branded Merchandise
These shall comprise T-shirts and other apparel, Arm Bands, Mugs, Drinking Glasses, Paintings, Key-holders, Umbrellas, etc. Merchandise shall be sold with the help of Supermarkets, Shopping Malls, Fuel Stations, Churches, Mosques, Schools, Colleges, Universities and any other identifiable outlets – locally and internationally (online).
7. Charity Concerts
A series of Charity Concerts shall be held along the Walk’s Route with performances by local and international artistes, where all proceeds shall be towards the Okoa Maisha Fund.
The Okoa Maisha concerts shall held in two main categories at the outlined venues;
a) Saturday Nights – premium gate charges
b) Sunday afternoons – Family shows
