OBJECTIVES OF THIS CAMPAIGN

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES OF THE WALK

1. Raise Kshs.1 Billion to initiate model sustainable and practical projects in the perennial drought-stricken areas with emphasis on;
a) Rain Water Harvesting and recyling – directed drainage and re-utilization of waster for irrigating crops and animal feeds
b) Water retention and storage – tanks, water pans, boreholes, dams, etc
c) Sustainable Food production – use of Greenhouse and other modern technologies
d) Sustainable livestock production – utilization of harvested water to irrigate animal feeds, introduction of new and improved livestock breeds, fish-farming, etc
e) Green/Renewable energy production and utilization – solar, wind and bio-gas
2. Enhance awareness of the gravity of the drought and famine situation in Kenya
3. Rally ordinary Kenyans to contribute, in whatever little individual way they can, to the aid the development of sustainable solutions
4. Walk in solidarity with our fellow Kenyans who walk sometimes up to 40Kms a day in search of food, water and pasture.
5. Create a demonstrable and sustainable foundation for a long-term, sustainable program to avert this calamity in future through;
- Enhanced food production capacity through modern technology
- Improved water harvesting and storage
- Increased environmental care and conservation
6. Enhance public awareness in their need to actively participate in the realization of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) especially Poverty Eradication.
